Suspect confesses to killing Coleen Garcia's step-aunt: 'Nadala ng lasing ko'
The suspect in the killing of Coleen Garcia's step-aunt, who was found dead with over 15 stab wounds in Antipolo, has admitted to the crime.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Art Tondo Villacastin said he was drunk when he stabbed Canice Minica Seming to death in their family home on Wednesday, Dec. 20. "Nadala ng lasing ko. Dala ng lasing. Hinahanap ko asawa ko doon, eh wala. Bago pa dumating 'yung biktima, nandoon na po ako sa loob ng bahay kasi bukas po 'yung side po nila sa kabilang daanan," the suspect said.
According to Art, Seming asked him to leave while he was looking for his former partner Mary Ann Garnica, which led to the unfortunate incident.
Coleen recently detailed what happened to her relative as she shared some photos of the suspect in a Facebook post. She said he used to work for her father as his carpenter and even helped her complete her home. Her dad, however, later dismissed him after finding out that he's a drug user, while Mary Ann continued to serve as a nanny to Coleen's younger siblings.
Mary Ann said he left and blocked Art after their split, claiming that he has been "constantly threatening" her and at one point even bared his plan to kill her seven kids.
Art got arrested by the police on Sunday, Dec. 24.
Talking about the incident on GMA's 24 Oras, the victim's brother-in-law Jose Garcia said: "The worst Christmas ever. We were looking forward to having fun this Christmas kahit simple."
P/Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo told ABS-CBN News that they initially classified the complaint as homicide but they are now including murder in the case with the additional details they have obtained so far in the investigation.
The media outlet reported that Art has previously been involved in two other cases—in connection to drugs and robbery—as seen in official records.
