'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' star Andre Braugher's cause of death revealed
A representative for Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andre Braugher has revealed the late actor’s cause of death.
Initial reports say Braugher died after a recent illness, but his representative told PEOPLE Magazine that he died of lung cancer. He was 61.
It isn’t clear when he was diagnosed with the disease, and the representative gave no further details.
Braugher was best known for portraying police captain Ray Holt in Brooklyn Nine-Nine. He quickly became a fan-favorite.
For his role, he bagged two recognitions at the Critics Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series and was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series four times.
He received a total of 11 Emmy nominations throughout his career.
Braugher bagged his first Emmy in 1988 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Frank Pembleton in Homicide: Life on the Street. He won another Emmy in 2006 for Thief, where he played the role of Nick Atwater.
He also appeared in other shows like Gideon's Crossing, and Men of a Certain Age.
