The Philippine capital has slipped to 102nd place in the 2027 QS Best Student Cities Rankings.

In the latest ranking by international education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds, Manila fell 14 places from the 88th spot.

The city earned a 60.1 overall score. In the individual indicators, Manila placed 15th in affordability, 64th in employer activity, 98th in student view, 139th in student mix, and 140th in desirability.

Topping the list is Seoul, which earned a perfect 100 score. QS described it as a vibrant city with a lively 24-hour culture, rich history, and creative scene. It also received high ratings from students and graduates for its convenience, cultural diversity, quality of life, and safety.

Joining the top 10 cities are Tokyo, London, Melbourne, Munich, Sydney, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, and Zurich.

The platform assesses cities based on six key categories: university rankings, student mix, desirability, employer activity, affordability, and student view, taking into account factors such as academic reputation, living costs, career opportunities, safety, diversity, and students' overall experiences.

To qualify for the rankings, a city must have over 250,000 people and at least two universities featured in the latest QS World University Rankings. QS also uses metropolitan population figures whenever available.
