On June 8, Yulo earned a bronze medal in the vault event after scoring 14.333 points. He finished behind gold medalist Mahdi Olfati of Iran and silver medalist Huang Mingqi of China.

The 25-year-old Pinoy pride didn't stop bagging medals at the event when he also snatched his second bronze medal in parallel bars by scoring 14.166.

In a Facebook post, the Philippine Sports Commission lauded Yulo's performance in the competition.

"Tunay na #BidaAngBayaningManlalaro sa iyong husay at pagsungkit ng medalya para sa bansa!" the organization wrote.

PSC added, "Salamat sa ipinamalas mo na galing, Caloy! Mabuhay ka!"

Yulo is the second Filipino athlete to win a gold medal at the Olympics after weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz at the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Following his historic feat of winning two gold medals at the Paris Olympics, Yulo was named the 2024 Athlete of the Year by the Philippine Sportswriters Association, making him the first gymnast to be recognized with such a title since Pia Adelle Reyes in 1997.

It runs in the blood

Meanwhile, Eldrew Yulo, the 16-year-old brother of Carlos, also waved the country's flag in the competition after securing a silver medal in the vault event at the junior level category of the Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships on June 8.

The younger Yulo posted an average score of 13.850 points. This marks his third straight podium finish in the tournament following his gold medal from Uzbekistan in 2024 and silver from Singapore in 2023.
