Kid Cudi on ending years-long feud with Kanye West: 'That man is my brother'
American rapper Kid Cudi defended his decision to reconcile with fellow rapper Kanye West after having a public feud with him for years.
Cudi took to his X account to write a reply to radio DJ Peter Rosenberg, who said that he was "disappointed in a lot of people" for showing support to West after he released a song called Heil Hitler a year ago.
"I understand your frustration Peter, I f****s with you, but I don't really care if you're disappointed in me. That man is my brother," he said. "That man is my brother. You dont have a relationship with him like I do. Damn near two decades of art and friendship. You not family. So I get it."
Cudi went on to bring up the mental health struggles that West had been struggling with in the past.
"I've been around Ye, and I can honestly say talking to him now is how it used to be when I first signed to him, but even better. He was dealing with mental health struggles for years and now he's good. Everyone deserves some grace when they family," he highlighted.
"I was the hardest on him out of anybody. I held him accountable. He apologized and it was sincere. But like I said, you not family so I get it," he added.
It was in 2008 when Cudi first caught the attention of West with his mixtape titled A Kid Named Cudi. He then signed to West's GOOD Music label in that same year.
However, Cudi and West's most prominent public falling out started when West removed Cudi from his Donda 2 album in February 2022. The split was triggered by Cudi's ongoing friendship with Pete Davidson, who was dating West's ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, at the time.
Following this, Cudi asserted in an interview with Esquire that he is "done" with West, and that it was "gonna take a m*******g miracle" for the two of them to be friends again.
But during West’s recent Chicago concert, the music artist brought out Cudi as a special guest and peformed with him the songs Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 1, Ghost Town, and Pursuit of Happiness, signaling their reconciliation.
