Here's how you can send help to the victims of Tropical Storm Enteng

By Yoniel Acebuche Published Sep 02, 2024 3:50 pm

The Philippines faces its fifth tropical cyclone this year as Enteng brings heavy rainfall and strong winds.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the tropical storm developed from a low-pressure area off Samar Island on the evening of Sept. 1 and has been moving northwest at 30 kilometers per hour.

As of 2 p.m., Enteng has intensified further and is about to make landfall over the northern Aurora-Southeastern Isabela Area.

The state weather bureau also reported that the enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon and Visayas (especially along the western portions) over the next three days.

As Enteng continues to affect the country, communities are opening fundraising initiatives to aid those impacted.

If you have the means to extend a hand to our Kababayans in need, here's a running list of organizations and donation drives where you can offer help.

PhilSTAR Media Group's Operation Damayan

Philstar Media Group, through Operation Damayan, is accepting donations to help out victims of tropical storm Enteng.

Donations may be deposited to Philstar Daily Inc./Operation Damayan's Metrobank Savings account number 151-7-15152422-9. Email the deposit slip to [email protected].

Community Pantry PH

Patricia Non, the founder of Community Pantry PH, is calling for donations.

The group, which helps "inspire, grow and sustain community pantries in the Philippines," recently launched another initiative to build five or more community kitchens in various evacuation centers and affected areas, including Taytay, Pasig, Caloocan, Marikina, and Sta. Maria Bulacan, Batasan Hills, Marilao Bulacan and Naga, among others.

Non also encourages the public to send monetary donations via QR code, as each kitchen primarily needs P5000 to be built.

They are also looking for volunteers to cook food for the victims.

"Kung kaya po natin mag-ambahan maski tig-10 pesos para sa mga kusina na ito, napakalaking help na po n'un. (P5,000 po ang budget natin sa bawat kusina)," she wrote.

It added, "Maraming salamat po sa lagi nyong pagsuporta sa community initiatives natin!"
