Another day, another record-high: New COVID-19 cases hit 9,838
The number of new COVID-19 cases hit another record-high today as the Department of Health reported 9,838 additional cases.
This brings the total number of active cases in the country to 109,018. The country’s positivity rate, or the percentage who tested positive out of the total tested, is now at 17.3%.
The DOH said that 98.1% of the positive cases are mild and asymptomatic.
The country has now logged a total of 702,856 cases.
There were also 663 recoveries and 54 casualties.
To date, 72% of the ICU beds in the National Capital Region, where the majority of the new infections can be found, are now full.
The number of new cases closely tracks the forecast of the OCTA Research Group last week that the country’s number of new cases may hit 10,000 in a day.
