PSA: LRT-2, MRT-3 to offer free rides for solo parents on April 20

In celebration of National Solo Parents’ Day, the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) are offering free rides for solo parents on Saturday, April 20. 

All solo parents are entitled to free rides on the said lines during morning peak hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and in the afternoon to early evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

“Tayo po sa LRTA, batid natin ’yung bigat ng responsibilidad ng mga solo parent. Kaya naman sa pagdiriwang na ito, sana maiparamdam ng LRTA ang aming paghang at pasasalamat sa inyo sa pamamagaitan po ng handog naming libreng sakay,” said LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera. 

"Saludo po ang MRT-3 sa lahat ng solo parents na ubos-lakas na nagsasakripisyo upang maitaguyod ang kanilang mga anak. Hangad po namin na sa aming libreng sakay ay mapasaya namin sila sa kanilang espesyal na araw,” said Jorjette B. Aquino, Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and Officer-in-Charge of MRT-3. 

To avail the free ride, passengers must present their valid solo parent ID at MRT-3, and solo parent ID or Solo Parent Certificate of Eligibility at LRT-2. 

The National Solo Parents’ Day is celebrated every third Saturday of April in accordance with Republic Act No. 11861 to "commemorate the role and significance of every solo parent in the Philippines.”
