A Chinese "mukbang" content creator died while she was binge-eating during a livestream on July 14. She was 24.

Several outlets, including Koreaboo, reported that Pan Xiaoting died of overeating, with her autopsy results showing her abdomen was severely deformed and her stomach full of undigested food.

She reportedly weighed 300 kilos at the time of her death.

According to reports, Xiaoting ate for over 10 hours a day without breaks. She also consumed about 10 kilos of food per meal.

She initially worked as a waitress before creating mukbang content, which involves eating copious amounts of food on camera, for additional income, per The Times of India.

As she became popular, Xiaoting quit her job to focus on streaming full-time.

Her family was reportedly concerned over the impact of mukbang on her health, yet she continued to push herself to extreme limits.

Xiaoting even rented a separate studio for a more professional setup, the Times of India reported.

Her eating habits also led to multiple hospitalizations, including an incident of gastric bleeding.

Despite the health risks, Xiaoting continued her binge eating challenges anyway, even if it was just the very next day after hospitalization.

Days before her death, Filipino content creator Dongz Apatan died of a stroke after holding a mukbang session featuring fried chicken.

The local Department of Health is mulling over banning mukbang videos due to the incident.
