A 17-year-old boy who was missing for months was found after randomly popping up on streaming platform Twitch.

USA Today reported that the teenager was last spotted leaving his home in the city of Flint in Michigan and was believed to have got on a bus last May, when the Flint Township Police Department asked the public for assistance in tracking him down.

But on July 3, Wednesday, gamer FaZe Lacy said the teen's brother contacted him via email after seeing his stream with fellow gamer Clix making fun of the teen, who was shirtless and who approached them, while they were eating in a restaurant.

The brother told FaZe the teen has schizophrenia, a mental illness that makes people seem like they have lost touch with reality.

FaZy shared the brother's email on stream, which read: "My missing little brother from Michigan was on Clix and Lacy's stream in Miami. He was wearing green shorts, and they were making fun of him. He is not on drugs; he is schizophrenic."

The Flint Township Police Department on July 4 confirmed the teen was found safe.

"The Flint Township Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everybody who shared the missing person information," it said.

"He has been found safe in Miami, Florida and we are working with local authorities to arrange his safe return to Michigan to be with his family," authorities added.
