Donald Trump says Taylor Swift will 'pay a price' for endorsing Kamala Harris' presidential bid
Former United States President Donald Trump took a swipe at pop star Taylor Swift for endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign in the 2024 elections.
In a phone patch interview on the talk Fox & Friends, Trump, a Republican, said Swift was "always going to endorse" the Democratic Party.
"It was just a question of time," he said. "She couldn't possibly endorse [Joe] Biden. You look at Biden, you couldn't possibly endorse him."
Swift endorsed Biden for president in 2020.
Trump also pointed out that he's "not a Taylor Swift fan."
"But she's a very liberal person," he said. "She seems to always endorse a Democrat. And she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace."
Swift, in an Instagram post, expressed her support for Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, after the presidential debate between Harris and Trump in Philadelphia.
"Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most," Swift said in the caption of her post where she's holding a cat. "As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."
Swift noted that an artificial intelligence version of her falsely endorsed Trump on his website, which made her fearful of AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation.
"It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth," she said.
Swift then explicitly stated that she's voting for Harris and Walz, saying Harris "fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them" and Walz "has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."
She reminded everyone, especially first-time voters, to register and vote early. She shared a link to where to register and find early voting dates in her Instagram stories.
She also signed her post "Childless Cat Lady," a reference to Sen. JD Vance, Trump's running mate, who said America is being run “by a bunch of childless cat ladies, who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.”
The US elections will be held on Nov. 5.
