Couple arrested after leaving baby unattended at beach
A couple in Pennsylvania is facing punishment after they left their infant on a Lake George beach to go enjoy themselves.
According to a press release issued by the State Police of Queensbury, the couple, identified as 30-year-old Paul Thorley and 28-year-old Mary Thorley, were put behind bars for endangering the welfare of a child on June 18.
Authorities detailed that a passerby heard a child crying for an extended period of time. Troopers responded at around 5:47 p.m.
They then discovered the couple's baby alone on the beach "approximately five feet from the shoreline," prompting them to call the police to address the issue.
Paul and Mary had reportedly left their child unattended for approximately 15 minutes while they went on a boat ride in the lake.
Police didn't give details about how the child was doing but the parents were arrested and later released. They are also scheduled to appear in court later.
In November 2023, a 1-year-old baby was found abandoned at a Florida beach by beachgoers shivering and cold to the touch. The mother was then charged with child neglect and aggravated child abuse.
