By Saihjee Galang Published May 08, 2024 6:51 pm

Filipinos are known for their love of pageants, and excitement is already building for the grand coronation night of the Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

Several events have recently taken place to ramp up anticipation as the finals night nears on May 22 at 8 p.m. in the Mall of Asia Arena.

Last May 6, the top five performers in the interview challenge were revealed: Patricia Bianca Tapia (Hawaii), Alexie Brooks (Iloilo), Stephanie Faye Gerona (Quirino), Ma. Ahtisa Manalo (Quezon Province), and Christi Lynn Landrito Mcgarry (Taguig).

These ladies join the previously announced top five finalists from the swimwear competition, namely Dia Mate (Cavite), Patricia Bianca Tapia (Hawaii), Alexie Brooks (Iloilo once more!), Ma. Ahtisa Manalo (Quezon Province), and Jet Hammond (Southern California).

Finally, last April 28, the National Costume competition, themed "Philippine Flora and Fauna," crowned its winners in Sultan Kudarat. Alexie Brooks of Iloilo, Jet Hammond of Southern California, and Tamara Ocier of Tacloban took home the top spots.

Winners of the National Costume competition received P100,000 each, while the top scorers in the interview and swimwear challenges will automatically secure a spot in the finals.

But what else is there you need to know before the coronation night?

Hosts

The coronation will be hosted by Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel, TV personality Jeannie Mai, and Filipino actor Alden Richards.

Jeannie is a well-known correspondent in the sphere of pageantry. She was a correspondent for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 editions of the Miss Universe and co-hosted the 2022 and 2023 editions.

Alden, on the other hand, will be returning as a co-host for the second time.

Performers

Aside from the competition, guests, delegates, and audiences will be entertained by performances from Filipino international drag race icon Marina Summers and Raining in Manila hitmaker OPM pop band, Lola Amour.

How to watch

If you want to witness the grand coronation live, tickets are available at SM Tickets.

Ticket prices start at P499 for General Admission, P1,499 for Upper Box, P3,499 for Lower Box Regular, P4,950 for Lower Box Premium, and P9,950 for VIP.

If you opt to watch it on your screen, a live stream of the coronation will be available on Empire.PH’s YouTube channel.

How to vote

To vote, download the Miss Universe Philippines app and then go to the "Challenge Vote" tab. There, you can choose the finalist you think should win the swimsuit challenge.

For this year’s edition, aside from representatives from different cities and municipalities around the Philippines, delegates from overseas countries who will be representing the Filipino communities are also allowed to participate in the pageant.

The Miss Universe organization expanded the pageant's scope as they removed the age limit for candidates from this edition onwards. The organization retained the minimum age limit of 18 while candidates aged 29 and above are now allowed to participate.

There will be 53 candidates who will be competing for the crown and only one will be chosen to be Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee’s successor who will be representing the Philippines in the international stage this year.
