Routes for PH Olympians' homecoming parade on Aug. 13

A homecoming parade is set to welcome the Filipino athletes who competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 13.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has released a traffic advisory for areas where the parade will be passing through on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

The homecoming parade will begin at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) with Malacañang Palace as the destination. It will pass through V. Sotto Center Island, Roxas Blvd., P. Burgos Avenue, Finance Road, Ayala Blvd., Casal St., Legarda St., Mendiola St., and Jose Laurel St. A stop-and-go scheme will be implemented.

With the expected traffic, the MMDA suggested motorists take alternative routes northbound such as Roxas Blvd. Service Road, Taft Avenue, F.B. Harrison Street, and A. Mabini Street. Those heading southbound can take T.M. Kalaw and U.N. Avenue.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will hold its closing ceremony on Aug. 12, 3:00 a.m. Philippine time.

Double gold medalist Carlos Yulo and Bronze medalist Aira Villegas will be the flag bearers for Team Philippines. Other Pinoy Olympians Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, Hergie Bacyadan, Eumir Marcial, John Cienza, Elreen Ando, and Vanessa Sarno are also set to join.

Meanwhile, the Paralympics will begin on Aug. 28 with six Filipinos vying for medals.
