Veteran photographer Mandy Navasero passes away at 84

Filipina veteran photographer and writer Luz Amandolina “Mandy” Navasero has passed away. She was 84.

Her family announced that she "peacefully joined our Creator" on Monday, June 1.

"Our mom lived a full and meaningful life. She touched many people with her kindness, warmth, wisdom, and love. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and for the love she shared with all of us," her children wrote.

The cause of her death was not disclosed. She is survived by her children, Julia, Kate, Amanda, and Kert Navasero.

"During this difficult time, we kindly ask for your prayers for her eternal rest and for comfort and strength for our family," they wrote. "Thank you for your love, support, and remembrance of our mother."

Her wake will be held at La Funeraria Paz on Araneta Avenue, Quezon City from 1 p.m. on June 3. Family and friends may pay their respects until the last night of the wake on June 6. Her cremation is scheduled for June 7, 11 a.m.

Navasero was the photographer, director for photography and communications, founder and CEO of her studio, Mandy Navasero PhotoPRo Studio. 

She earned a degree in Mass Communication from Philippine Women’s University, a master’s degree in English from Ateneo de Manila University, and completed a professional photography program in illustrative and advertising photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.

Through her studio, MNPS, she has expanded her work beyond traditional photography to include digital imaging services, public relations consulting, and photo safari tours, and has organized photography expeditions to destinations such as Batanes, Coron, Boracay, and the Laguna Loop, among others.

She has contributed to the Philippine Daily Inquirer's Street Smart for decades, and has worked with the biggest names in the industry, including Globe Telecom and ABS-CBN, as well as the House of Representatives.
