Here are alternate routes for Marcos' 2026 SONA on July 27
The MMDA has released alternate routes around the House of Representatives to mitigate expected traffic on Monday, July 27, when President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. delivers his fifth SONA.
Heavy traffic flow is expected along Commonwealth Avenue, IBP Road, and other major thoroughfares in the vicinity of the House of Representatives.
Affected motorists may take the following routes, according to the MMDA:
Northbound: Quezon Memorial Circle to Fairview
From Elliptical Road, or the Quezon Memorial Circle, take North Avenue, turn right on Mindanao Avenue, then right on Sauyo Road, or take Quirino Highway.
Southbound: Fairview to Quezon Memorial Circle
Heading to Elliptical Road from Commonwealth Avenue, take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, turn left on Mindanao Avenue, then left on North Avenue.
All Trucks from C-5 Road or Katipunan Avenue are to take the Luzon Flyover, then turn right on Congressional Avenue.
Light vehicles from C-5 Road must turn left on Magiting, right on Maginhawa, left on Mayaman, then on to Kalayaan.
There will be 1,481 personnel from various traffic enforcement districts deployed to manage traffic in the area on Monday. The MMDA has cancelled all days off and imposed a no-absent policy on Monday for the agency's field traffic personnel.
Additionally, 39 tow trucks, 30 motorcycle units, five mobile patrol units, five ambulances, one military truck, two boom trucks, and six dump trucks will be in position for any eventuality. There will also be concrete and plastic barriers, plastic cones, and 22 portalets prepositioned.
The agency's mobile command center will be deployed with 15 CCTV cameras and monitors. In addition, the MMDA Emergency Preparedness and Response Team will be on standby near the Batasan Complex.
From its headquarters in Pasig City, the MMDA Communication and Command Center will be monitoring all activities in and around the area for the duration of the SONA using CCTV cameras and radio communications.
