Marcos' trust rating falls to 34% in Q2, Duterte maintains 57%: SWS
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s trust rating slipped to 34% in the second quarter of 2026 ahead of his fifth State of the Nation address, according to the latest Social Weather Stations survey.
The result was one percentage point lower than his 35% rating in the first quarter. The survey also found that 45% of Filipinos had little trust in Marcos, while 19% were undecided.
Meanwhile, Vice President Sara Duterte maintained her trust rating at 57%. The survey showed that 27% had little trust in the vice president, while 15% remained undecided.
She is facing a total of four impeachment complaints with charges that include culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, plunder or malversation, bribery, graft and corruption, and other high crimes over alleged misuse of her office's confidential funds and for allegedly threatening the first couple and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The survey was conducted in June at the height of news og the arrest of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, the Senate leadership struggle, a special session of Congress, the Mindanao earthquake, and the Tacloban school shooting.
In a statement interpreting the results, Stratbase president Victor Andres “Dindo” Manhit said Marcos should consider that “Filipinos will be looking not for rhetoric but for a clear plan to address the issues that affect their daily lives."
He added that issues such as flood control controversies and the impeachment proceedings against Duterte remain important concerns for the public and that the upcoming SONA “has an opportunity to show that no one is above accountability and that public resources will be protected.”
SWS surveyed 1,200 people nationwide. The poll had a margin of error of ±3% for national percentages and ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with a 95% confidence level.
Marcos is set to deliver his fifth SONA on July 27.
