Groom kills groomsman on wedding day: ‘Never seen anything quite like this’
A groom has been charged for killing his groomsman with the help of his bride just a few hours after they got married.
According to a release shared on Flint Police Department's Facebook page, the pair—James Shirah and Savahna Collier—got into an argument with Terry Lewis Taylor Jr. after their wedding in Michigan. It escalated to the point that James intentionally hit Terry with a large SUV “that was traveling at a high rate of speed” while the latter was standing in front of his home.
Authorities said that the incident left Terry with “severe injuries." He was later pronounced dead at the Hurley Medical Center, where he was given immediate medical assistance.
Sharing his reaction to what happened, Genessee County prosecutor David Leyton told Associated Press that he has “never seen anything quite like this.”
“I’ve seen people running over other people but not so soon after a wedding,” he added.
James has been charged with second-degree murder, while Savahna has been charged with accessory after the fact to a felony. The former is being held without bond, while the latter has posted hers at $4,000 earlier this week.
