A groom in Thailand fatally shot his bride, her mother, her younger, and another guest before shooting himself during their wedding reception.

The Bangkok Post reported that Chaturong Suksuk married Kanchana Pachunthuek in a traditional ceremony and held a wedding party at a house in Wang Nam Khieo district.

Suksuk was 15 years younger than his Pachunthuek. He was 29, and she was 44.

They had lived together for three years before deciding to marry, the police said.

Suksuk reportedly “did not look happy” during the party. He, who was "quite intoxicated at the time," according to the police, left the party and went to his car.

But Suksuk returned to the gathering with a gun and went on a shooting spree.

He killed Pachunthuek, her 62-year-old mother Kingthong Klajoho, 38-year-old sister Kornnipa Manato, and a 50-year-old guest named Thong Nonkhunthod.

Another guest, 28-year-old Bamrung Chatherat, was also seriously injured after getting hit by a stray bullet.

Suksuk then turned the gun on himself and died instantly, witnesses told the police. The police said he legally bought his gun and ammunition last year, CBS News reported.

The police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, including a reported argument between the couple ahead of their wedding. Suksuk had also reportedly felt insecure about the age gap between him and his bride, BBC reported.

According to BBC News, the killer was a former athlete and paramilitary ranger. He won a silver medal in swimming at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia in 2022. This December, he was also listed to compete in the World Abilitysport Games 2023. He lost a leg after a train accident while on duty, the Post reported.
