Carnival Cruise addresses fork use in viral foot scratching incident
Carnival Cruise Line has spoken out on a viral incident involving the use of one of the ship's forks and a passenger's foot.
The vacation company addressed the event in a statement on Instagram: "We can confirm that forks are intended for food, not foot care. Once we became aware of the situation, our team quickly addressed it with the guest and removed the utensil from service.”
“While the video may be generating laughs and gasps online, cleanliness and hygiene are no joke to us,” the statement continued, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation while injecting a little humor. “Our crew works hard every day to maintain high standards across our ̶f̶eet̶ fleet and to ensure all guests enjoy a safe, clean, and comfortable vacation.”
Tiktok user @lucky_charmedcourt took a video of the incident in which a female passenger on the cruise can be seen visibly scratching flaky skin from her seemingly fungi-inflamed foot in the dining area before eating off of a slice of pizza.
In another video, the woman can be seen using the cruise's fork to aggressively scratch the itch. Further videos in the series documented the passenger speaking with both the attendant and the captain on the issue, with her being given wooden utensils and the fork in question being put in a dishwasher.
The videos have since earned disgusted comments from the public like, "This is why I always ask for plastic!!! ALWAYS!"
Another user said, "Please tell me you told staff."
Carnival Cruise Line, according to its website, is dubbed as "The World's Most Popular Cruise Line" and the first-ever cruise to sail 100 million guests. It is owned by Carnival Corporation Ltd., which includes sister lines Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, and Cunard Line, among others.
