One of those stories belongs to Rahbia Zoraydah “Zoe” Tamano Lucman-Mambuay, Pru Life UK’s first Takaful Agent Ambassador: a role she describes as both an honor and a responsibility.

“As one of Pru Life UK’s close to 40,000 financial advisors, I take this responsibility with humility and pride,” she says.

“Being the company’s first Takaful Agent Ambassador is a deep honor for me. It means representing protection that is ethical, transparent, and aligned with our faith.”

A movement, not just a product

For Lucman-Mambuay, Takaful is more than an insurance solution—it is a movement rooted in values and inclusion.

“This opportunity opened a window to invite my community to learn and avail of Takaful,” she explains.

“Takaful is not just a product. It’s a movement that says we, too, deserve protection that honors our faith.”

She emphasizes that Takaful is built on principles that distinguish it from conventional insurance.

“It has no elements of riba or interest, gharar or excessive uncertainty, and maisir or gambling,” Lucman-Mambuay says.

Clearing misconceptions about Takaful

Despite these principles, misconceptions persist; one of the most common being that Takaful is only for Muslims.

“That’s not true,” Lucman-Mambuay says. “Takaful is for everyone.”

Lucman-Mambuay joined Pru Life UK at a point when she was reassessing what success meant for her family.

“As a Muslim financial advisor, I cannot separate my work from my values,” she says. “I joined this business when I realized I wanted to give my family more than just financial support. I wanted to be present.”

She adds, “As a wife and mother, I didn’t want to choose between my family and my career. This business gave me something very rare: time and freedom.”

Bayanihan and Tabarru’

To explain tabarru’, or mutual donation, Lucman-Mambuay turns to a concept deeply familiar to Filipinos.

“Ang tabarru’ ay parang bayanihan,” she says. “We all contribute to one fund so that when someone is in need, there is help to draw from.”

“It is not a business; it is mutual support.”
