Father passes away after falling into a manhole months before his wedding

A man fell into a manhole and died just months before marrying the love of his life.

According to a report by PEOPLE, the plumber named Robert Hall was going down a ladder when he slipped and fell into the maintenance hole, making him lose consciousness as soon as he landed at the bottom.

His relatives told local news outlet WSB-TB that they still had so many questions about how the incident happened as it took 45 minutes for him to be rescued at the scene. They were told that the delays were due to methane gas inside the sewage pipes.

“You know that stuff is awful,” Hall's sister Kari said. She thinks that the methane gas was the one that led to her brother's death.

“It hurts so bad to know he’s not with us anymore,” continued Kari. “He loved with every bit of his soul.”

Hall is survived by his four children and his fiancée Melina Rich.

Hall and Rich planned on getting married this year. But instead of a wedding, Hall's family is now preparing for his funeral. 

To help fund his wake and other funeral expenses, Rich's stepfather John Burtz set up a GoFundMe page, which has exceeded its $10,000 (over P500,000) goal. "Robert was an amazing man who has left behind an amazing family. His family, like all of us, were not prepared for this tragedy," he wrote.
