Cebu Pacific cancels flights to Riyadh until Oct. 31
Cebu Pacific has canceled all flights to and from Riyadh through the end of October due to the escalating security crisis in the Middle East.
In an advisory issued Tuesday, the airline said that all scheduled services between the Philippines and Riyadh are suspended through Oct. 31.
"The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew remain our priority. CEB has taken the decision to cancel flights to and from Riyadh," the airline stated, adding that it continues to closely monitor developments across the region.
Affected passengers have been notified via email and provided options through the airline's online portal. These options include full refunds, converting ticket values into a virtual travel fund, or rebooking without a fare difference for travel within 30 days.
Additionally, Cebu Pacific is extending flexible travel policies for passengers with scheduled flights to or from Riyadh until Nov. 30 who wish to defer their travel. These passengers may rebook or convert their fares into travel credits up to two hours prior to their original departure time.
The carrier noted that further schedule adjustments may be required as the situation develops.
"Passengers are encouraged to check their flight status at cebupacificair.com/flight-status and ensure their contact details are updated to receive timely notifications, and to monitor updates through CEB’s official social media accounts."
Philippine Airlines also announced the suspension of its flights to Riyadh through Nov. 29.
The decision comes in the wake of recent strikes on the airport that left at least 18 people dead and hundreds injured, among them are two Filipinos.
The General Authority of Civil Aviation in a statement extended the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport.
