Nancy Binay greets estranged sister Abby on her birthday: 'I will always be your Ate'
Nancy Binay sent well-wishes for her estranged sister, Abby, on her birthday.
In her Facebook post on Dec. 12, Nancy shared an old photo of her with her siblings, Abby and Jejomar Jr.
"After all that has been said and done, I will always be your Ate," she wrote with a blue heart emoji. "Happy birthday #GoldenGirl."
Abby celebrated her birthday last night with her nearest and dearest, as seen on her Facebook stories. Among notable personalities who were present were Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Sta. Rosa, Laguna Mayor Arlene Arcillas.
She has yet to respond to Nancy's greeting as of this writing.
Long-standing feud
The two sisters have long been in a feud. Nancy said in his 2019 interview that their personal rift was rooted in Abby's husband, Luis Campos Jr.
"Our personal rift started when she (Abby) started dating iyung asawa n'ya ngayon," Nancy previously said.
"That started the rift because I've been hearing not-so-nice things about him when they were dating. As a sister, I want the best for my sisters, I'm the eldest. I think minasama niya iyun," she added.
Nancy further said at the time that their family "tried accepting" Campos as their brother-in-law.
She reiterated the same sentiment when she competed against Campos for the mayoral seat in 2025.
“Doon naman sa aking katunggali bilang mayor ng Makati, we tried, we really tried to accept you as our brother-in-law. Pero hindi ko maintindihan na pilit mo kaming pinaghihiwalay sa aming kapatid, kay Abby. Pilit mong sinisira ang samahan naming magkakapatid,” Nancy said last May.
“At ngayon naman dito sa Makati, pilit mo ding sinisira ang Serbisyong Binay na sinimulan ng aking ama bilang mayor ng Makati noong 1986. Alam mo na hindi pulitika ang pinagmulan ng gulo naming magkakapatid, kundi ikaw ang dahilan,” she stressed.
She, however, expressed in March 2025 that she remains open to reconciling with her sister.
Meanwhile, Abby said that she has not spoken with Nancy in almost 20 years.
"Matagal na, before 2016 pa, it's not known to the public pero matagal na. This is before nagkaaway kami ng brother ko in public," she said.
Their latest clash involved the Makati subway project, after Abby said Nancy’s claim that it was a “midnight deal” was a smear campaign against her.
She also hinted at her possible return to politics in 2028. “Magkikita kami after three years," she told the reporters in July.
Abby has served as Makati mayor since 2016. She is the fourth Binay and the second female Binay member to govern the city. She was re-elected in 2019 and 2022, where she also defeated her brother Junjun. She currently hosts the Breaking Balls with Abby Binay podcast.
Meanwhile, Nancy has served in the Senate since 2013. She was re-elected in the 2019 elections for a second consecutive term. She now sits as the Makati City Mayor following her win in the 2025 elections.
