Voter registration ends on Sept. 30, and no extensions will be made: Comelec

Sept. 30, Monday, is the last day of registration for the 2025 midterm elections.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia said no extensions for local and overseas voter registration will be made.

"We have already provided enough time," Garcia said, adding it will affect the timeline of the May 12 polls.

Comelec still has to finalize the voters' list, the project of the precinct, and the list of voters who would be transferred to other precincts.

Garcia said they expect a surge of applications on the last registration day.

To date, Comelec records state there are 6.4 million individuals who applied for registration. Over 3 million of them are new voters, and 1.18 million of them are overseas Filipinos.

Oct. 1, meanwhile, will be the start of the filing of certificate of candidacy for those who are seeking public office.

Voter registration resumed on Feb. 12, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including Saturdays and holidays.

Comelec also implemented its Register Anywhere Program until Aug. 31, allowing applicants to register in malls, universities, and government offices regardless of their place of residence.
