'Bongga Ka Day! The Annie Batungbakal Musical' to hit the stage in September
Attention, theater fans! There's a new musical coming this September.
Bongga Ka Day: The Annie Batungbakal Musical is coming to Newport Performing Arts Theater in September 2026, as announced during the closing show of Bagets The Musical on Sunday, March 22.
The musical will feature songs by the 70s Filipino band Hotdog, including their classic hits like Bongga Ka Day, Annie Batungbakal, Manila, and Ikaw Ang Miss Universe Ng Buhay Ko, among others.
It was originally slated to run in June 2020 but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its cast members included Gab Pangilinan, Anna Luna, and Nicole Omillo alternating in the titular role, as well as Markki Stroem, CJ Navato, Jon Santos, and Lemuel Silvestre.
More details for the 2026 staging, including the cast members, show dates, and selling dates, have yet to be announced. The show will be co-produced by Viva, The Philippine Star, and Newport World Resorts.
NPAT recently staged Bagets The Musical, which successfully ran from January to March 2026. It starred Andres Muhlach, Ethan David, Milo Cruz, Jeff Moses, Tomas Rodriguez, as well as Mico Chua, KD Estrada, Migo Valid, Sam Shoaf, and Noel Comia Jr.
