The Manila Golf and Country Club in Forbes Park, Makati has temporarily shut down operations today after eight of its food & beverage staff tested positive for COVID-19.

In a memo dated March 18, 2021, the country club shared that one waiter, six food preparation staff, and one snack cart waiter were found positive with the virus.

The premises will be closed until further notice to "pave the way for high level disinfection of the entire premises." Testing will also be provided for all of its employees and contractual personnel, with as many as 300 employees set to be tested on Saturday.

"The board will continue to closely monitor developments and will take the necessary precautions to safeguard the health and well being of all of our members, employees, their families and the neighboring community," said General Manager San Agustin Albina.

As of writing, the Philippines has logged a total of 648,066 COVID-19 cases, with March 19 hitting an all-time high of 7,103 new cases.
