UP Diliman keeps top spot in EduRank's 100 Best Universities in PH for 2026
The University of the Philippines Diliman has retained the highest overall spot in EduRank's 100 Best Universities in the Philippines.
Since 2023, the university has been ranking first among PH universities on the same list. In the 2026 ranking, UP Diliman was listed as the 312th best university in Asia, and the 1,299th in the world.
Following the Diliman campus is De La Salle University Manila in the 2nd spot among all PH universities—400th in Asia, and 1,569th in the world.
The third best PH university, based on the EduRank list, is Ateneo de Manila University, Quezon City, landing in the 457th spot in Asia, and 1,731st in the world.
Making up the rest of the Top 10 universities in the country are the University of Santo Tomas at 4th, University of the Philippines Los Baños at 5th, University of the Philippines Manila at 6th, Mapua University Manila at 7th, University of San Carlos Cebu at 8th, Asian Institute of Management Manila at 9th, and Silliman University Dumaguete at 10th.
EduRank is an independent organization that annually evaluates 14,131 universities in 183 countries. It bases its ranking on each university's research output (45%), relevance in non-academic areas (45%), and the prominence and influence of its alumni (10%).
In coming up with this particular list, the organization analyzed 944,000 citations submitted by 84,700 academic publications produced by 229 universities throughout the Philippines. It also considered the popularity of 1,341 alumni.
In the same list, the University of Tokyo in Japan ranked first in Asia, followed by Kyoto University in Japan in the second spot, and Tsinghua University in China at third.
For the world rankings, Harvard University and Stanford University, both in the US, snagged first and second place, respectively. In the third spot is the University of Oxford in the UK.
