St. Peter Chapels to offer free memorial services for Mindanao earthquake victims

St. Peter Life Plan and Chapels said that it will waive funeral service fees to all those who were affected by the recent earthquake in Mindanao.

"We extend our deepest sympathy and unwavering solidarity to all our Kababayans in Mindanao following the devastating Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck on the morning of June 8, 2026," they wrote on their social media accounts. "Our thoughts are with the families facing loss and damage, particularly in the Soccsksargen region (South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, General Santos)."

They said that they will provide free funeral services "for those who lost their lives in this tragedy as our support to their bereaved families."

The quake was felt in different parts of Mindanao at 7:37 a.m. on June 8, the first day of school for public schools and numerous private schools nationwide.

As of June 9, the death toll has climbed to 37. Four individuals remain missing and 479 people have been reported injured, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.
