Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio remained as the leading contender for president, while Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III emerged as the top bet for vice president in the 2022 national elections, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Wednesday, Sept. 29.

The survey, which was conducted from Sept. 6 to 11, showed the presidential daughter as the top choice with 20% of Filipino adults expressing their support for her.

The Davao City Mayor maintained her lead in the presidential polls, despite an eight-point decrease from her rating on the polling body's survey in June.

Rounding up the top five candidates were former senator Bongbong Marcos with 15%, Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno with 13%, Senator Manny Pacquiao with 12%, Senator Grace Poe with 9%, and Vice President Leni Robredo with 8%.

Sotto, meanwhile, topped the vice-presidential poll with 25%, bumping President Rodrigo Duterte to second place with 14%.

The incumbent president was followed by Moreno and Marcos with 12% each and Manny Pacquiao with 7%.

On the other hand, broadcast journalist Raffy Tulfo was named as the top senatorial bet with 55.2% of respondents saying they will vote for him.

Tulfo is followed by former house speaker Alan Peter Cayetano (53.6%), Sorsogon governor Chiz Escudero (47.9%), former senator Loren Legarda (47.2%), Moreno (42.3%) and Pacquiao (42.2%) at the top six spots.

Rounding up the magic 12 are former senator and presidential aspirant Ping Lacson (40.5%), Marcos (40.2%), TV host Willie Revillame (36.6%), DPWH Secretary Mark Villar (36.2%), former vice president and Makati City mayor Jejomar Binay (29.5%), and former senator Jinggoy Estrada (29.4%).

The nationwide survey was based on a sample of 2,400 respondents with an error margin of +/-2% at a 95% confidence level.

Duterte-Carpio will reportedly seek re-election as Davao City mayor, as of this writing. In August, she urged her father and Senator Bong Go to publicly confirm their tandem for the 2022 national elections.
