This groundbreaking technology is the future of global aesthetic medicine

Damaged skin cells can cause a lot of skin problems, leaving the skin prone to acne, dermatosis, and other skin diseases. But what if there is a way to boost these damaged skin cells to rejuvenate them?

Changing the game of the aesthetic medicine industry, that is what modern and progressive skin solution Advanced Skincare Complex (ASCE+) aims to do. Armed with its ExoSCRT™ technology, it carries exosomes—membrane-bound extracellular vesicles generated by cells and carry nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, and metabolites—that send “happy signals” to damaged skin cells, boosting them to rejuvenate and improve skin conditions.

The groundbreaking exosomes brand was discussed in a scientific lecture last Wednesday, May 10, at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati. The event was sponsored by Venn Intelligent Aesthetics which supplies state-of-the-art technology for aesthetic medicine, and ExoCoBio, a South Korean pharmaceutical company.

A diverse approach

In his opening remarks, Dr. Hayden Kho Jr., CEO and managing director of Venn Intelligent Aesthetics, expressed his awe at how ASCE+ can help boost the procedures in aesthetic medicine.

Dr. Hayden Kho Jr. expresses his excitement for exosome tech in his opening remarks.

“This changes the way we approach our practices in medical aesthetics. My only hope is that we all leave this room more aware of the immense possibilities of ASCE+ Exosomes,” he said.

In the first lecture of the night, Dr. Jan Olof Lötvall, professor and Exosomes research expert from Sweden.

“My belief is that exosomes are very important for homeostasis, for the well-being of our body that’s why I think the applications of aesthetic medicine are quite extraordinary,” he said. “In the end, we want to use these exosomes for the benefit of the people, the patient's benefit, and the benefit of us all.”

Dr. Jan Olof Lötvall explains the history of exosome technology.

Moreover, Lötvall added that exosome technology is being further developed not just for aesthetic medicine, but for other medical fields such as oncology and rheumatology.

“They are being developed to treat inflammatory diseases. They can also potentially treat cancer with the exosomes quite efficiently. If you choose the right exosome, the right dosing, and the right administration, there are so many opportunities with exosome technology in medicine, in general,” he explained in an exclusive interview for The Philippine STAR.

When asked to explain exosome technology in layman’s terms, Lötvall likened it to shipping trucks delivering packages around the city.

“It’s two cells communicating and speaking with each other, sending fax messages through little bubbles,” he said. “It’s like in New York City, you’d see these UPS cars going and delivering things from door to door. Exosomes are the UPS cars.”

An advance technological combination

ExoCoBio CEO and CTO Byong Seung Cho, in the night’s second lecture, looked back at how his pharmaceutical company became one of the first to utilize exosome technology in their products.

“For the last 40 years, there have been three major technologies in aesthetic medicine: botox, bottle and capsule, and any kind of fillers,” he said. “When I saw exosome technology, I found that it’s a combination of all those major technologies.”

Byong Seung Cho recalls how ExoCoBio utilized the exosome technology.

“When we age, we need another technology for regeneration and more so, we have a lot of inflammatory skin diseases so I saw that stem-cell exosomes can solve those issues and they can be another next generation technology like botox, or even better,” he added.

Furthermore, Cho said the best application for ASCE+ Exosomes is combination treatment, citing post-laser treatment and microneedling as examples.

“When we actually open the channels on our skin, (exosomes) can be delivered very easily,” he told The Philippine STAR.

4 sessions of ASCE+ Exosomes in 3 months

Lastly, in a panel discussion with the speakers, Dr. Rosario Salud Abaya Blas, a distinguished member of the Philippine Dermatologic Society, captivated the audience at the symposium as she shared her groundbreaking clinical experience with ASCE+ Exosomes. With an impressive track record in the field, Dr. Blas showcased jaw-dropping before and after photos of her patients, leaving the attendees astounded by the remarkable transformations achieved through this revolutionary treatment.

Dr. Rosario Blas, board-certified dermatologist at the Department of Dermatology of St. Luke's Medical Center Global City & Centre Medical Interationale.

Furthermore, Dr. Vicki Belo, founder and director of Belo Medical Group - which was the first to use ASCE+ Exosomes in the country, talked about how she integrated the technology in her medical practice to better customize procedures for her patients’ varying skin concerns.

Apart from other skin problems such as acne, erythema, and other diseases, Belo said exosome technology also helps with hair rejuvenation.

“I’ve been doing this for the last two years, starting from January 2020 until today. One of the biggest uses for exosomes is hair rejuvenation,” she said. “We inject it with a turtle pin and we give the exosome every two weeks.”

Prof. Jan Olof Lötvall, Dr. Rosario Blas, Dr. Vicki Belo, Dr. Hayden Kho Jr., and ExoCoBio's Ms. Dohee Kim and Mr. Byong Seung Cho smiles to the camera after the lecture.

Belo praised ASCE+ Exosomes, seeing its immediate effects after only weeks or days of sessions.

“I guess it’s one thing about exosomes, the progress is really fast. We do have a lot of successful cases and if you want to learn more about applying it then you can ask my fellow doctors here,” she said.

On its official website, Belo Medical Group cites their Belo Exosomes in facilitating the exchange of keratin for stronger hair; fibroblasts and immune cells for youthful and regenerating skin; six peptides for skin inflammation and wounds; hyaluronic acid for skin hydration; vitamins and minerals for skin health maintenance; and glutathione for skin brightening.

Truly a game-changing technology for global aesthetic medicine, exosome technology is ready to further improve the lives of people around the world.
