Long story short, it’s steak
Longhorn Steakhouse introduces new entrees for its Wild West Steakhouse Plates.
The set meal includes a starter, an entree with a side dish and a drink with affordable upgrades for dessert.
For starters, there are five options to choose from. A mixed green salad, two kinds of soup—Shrimp and Lobster Chowder and Loaded Potato Soup topped with bacon, grated cheddar and spring onions (add P50). As well as two kinds of appetizers, Wild West Shrimp (add P145) or Buffalo Chicken Bites (add P125).
The drinks included in the set menu are the classic iced tea and lemonade, with the option to add P65 to go bottomless. They also have an upgrade for handcrafted drinks for an additional P115. These are Berry Bliss, Sparkling Calamansi Tea, Fizzy Strawberry & Peach, Sparkling Calamansi Tea, Citrus Peach, and Mango Magic. Mango Magic is a mix of mango puree and a probiotic drink lit up by a cocktail sparkler.
From the new offerings, one of my favorites was the Crispy Golden Barramundi (add P150). It had a light but crispy batter, and it was the perfect protein for lunch. One of the three new pork entrees was the Garlic Herb Pork Cutlet, a deep-fried pork cutlet topped with a tomato sauce. The other two were the Oak-Smoked Barbecue Pork and the fall-off-the-bone Pork Spareribs (add P160) glazed with barbecue sauce.
I was also able to try the current offerings such as the Smokey Glazed Bacon Steak (add P140) and the Braised Beef Shortplate (add P160), which had a good ratio of meat to fat layers. The 7-Pepper Sirloin (add P650), was, for me, the tastiest of all. It was surprising since I was not a fan of the taste of pepper growing up. I thought I wouldn’t be able to tolerate it, but it was the most flavorful for me. It’s also a leaner cut compared to the shortplate. A chicken option called Wrangler Fried Chicken is available as well. All entrees were served with garlic rice and a choice of side dish. The side dishes available are sautéed French beans, corn riblets, or glazed baby carrots and corn.
For dessert, we were given a choice of either the Strawberry Shortcake or the Chocolate Stampede, both for an additional P275 each. The Strawberry Shortcake was light and less sweet compared to the decadent chocolate dessert. The latter consisted of layers of chocolate mousse and a chocolate cake base, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. It was such a generous portion that it could easily be shared.
