After a rigorous screening process, 40 ladies made it to the official list of candidates vying for the Binibining Pilipinas crowns.

On Feb. 6, The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) revealed the 40 hopefuls who will compete at the 59th edition of the most prestigious pageant in the country.

Over 70 candidates showcased their beauty and wits in their swimwear looks in the final screening held at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

Initially, the jurors announced the selected 35 binibinis, ending the night with a twist by adding five more candidates who will join the competition.

Some of the selected binibinis are returning queens and familiar faces such as Jessie Salvador, sister of actress and TV host Maja Salvador; Miss Earth Philippines alumnae Kiaragel Gregorio, Gianna Llanes, and Sofia Galve; PBB ex-housemate Reign Parani, and Miss Universe alumnae Angelica Lopez and Mirjan Hipolito.

The newest batch of binibinis will vie for three crowns representing the Philippines in the international pageantries: Miss International, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Globe.

Three of these hopefuls will soon be crowned by the reigning Binibining Pilipinas queens Nicole Borromeo (Bb. Pilipinas International), Gabrielle Camille Basiano (Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental), and Chelsea Fernandez (Bb. Pilipinas Globe).

Bb. Pilipinas Grand International Roberta Angela Tamondong will not pass the crown due to the pageant's withdrawal from the international competition.
