LOOK: Maja Salvador’s sister Jessie applies for Binibining Pilipinas pageant
Maja Salvador’s sister Jessie is looking to be a beauty queen.
Just recently, the actress expressed her support for her sibling by reposting a photo from Bb. Pilipinas’ Instagram page, where the organization shared some photos of pageant applicants showing Jessie in one of them. “Good luck, Bb. @itsjessiesalvador. Proud of you,” she wrote in her now-expired IG story.
When asked what made her decide to join pageantry in an interview with pageant vlogger Adam Genato, Jessie said: "Siguro yung paniniwala talaga ng mga taong nasa paligid ko and for me din, for myself, to build my confidence and magkaroon pa ako ng achievement pa in life."
Jessie revealed that Maja was one of the people who convinced her to try her luck in Binibining Pilipinas. “Actually, siya din yung isa sa nag-push sa akin na mag-join ng pageant kasi nga siguro sa height, and, ‘di ba, yung ganda."
She also shared that Maja gave her some words of wisdom before she applied for the competition. “’Wag kang paghinaan ng loob kasi lahat naman nadadaan sa training. Napag-aaralan ang lahat ng bagay, and maniwala ka lang sa sarili mo na kaya mo.' So ayun, tuloy-tuloy lang and go with the flow,” she said as she expressed her excitement about her journey.
“Sobrang support sa akin ni Maja. I am grateful to all those who believed in me,” she said in a media interview.
Jessie is being trained by pageant camp Aces & Queens, which has produced beauty queens like Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa.
Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. opened applications for the prestigious tilt in January this year. The official candidates will be announced on Monday, Feb. 6.
The reigning Binibining Pilipinas queens include Nicole Borromeo (Bb. Pilipinas International), Gabrielle Camille Basiano (Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental), Chelsea Fernandez (Bb. Pilipinas Globe), Roberta Angela Tamondong (Bb. Pilipinas Grand International), Nicole Budol (1st runner-up), and Stacey Daniella Gabriel (2nd runner-up). They were crowned in July 2022.
The BPCI’s current franchises include Miss International, Miss Intercontinental, and Miss Globe. They officially announced their withdrawal from Miss Grand International last year.
