Commuters get free LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 rides due to inclement weather
The LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 are offering free rides on Nov. 10 and 11 due to Super Typhoon Uwan.
The Department of Transportation announced this on Nov. 9 as Uwan is forecast to make landfall over the central portion of Aurora on Sunday evening or Nov. 10 morning.
More areas have been placed under TCWS No. 5, while TCWS No. 3 has been hoisted over Metro Manila.
In addition to the train rides, the office of the President, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, and the office of Sen. Erwin Tulfo are deploying buses to also offer free rides to commuters.
The buses will ply routes including Quiapo to Fairview, Quiapo to Angono, Lawton to Alabang, Roxas Boulevard to Sucat, and Taft to Cubao.
DOTr says that the free bus rides could be extended to Nov. 11 depending on the needs of commuters.
Additionally, the PPA is waiving RoRo terminal fees for government and public vehicles shipping rescue equipment and relief goods to those affected by the super typhoon.
Cargo fees for local airlines delivering goods to typhoon victims will also be free.
