Boxer Kenneth Egano passes away days after his win
Pinoy boxer Kenneth Egano has passed away on Wednesday, May 10, after a four-day coma. He was 22 years old.
The Games and Amusements Board (GAB) announced his passing on social media and extended their condolences to his family and friends.
"May his soul rest in peace," they wrote.
Egano, an upcoming bantamweight, collapsed in the ring right before he was announced as winner during a Blow by Blow match in Cavite. He was immediately taken to a hospital, but later fell into coma due to brain hemorrhage.
GAB earlier said that there was no mismatch not irregularities with how they handled the incident, but they are in contact with the doctors if there are any further findings regarding Egano's health.
“Sa ngayon, talagang wala tayong nakitang irregularities from start to finish. Kasi po 'yung medical checklist po natin sinisigurado natin kumpleto, at healthy po 'yung boksingero at capable to fight,” said GAB chairman Atty. Richard Clarin.
The People's Champ Manny Pacquiao, who runs Blow by Blow, earlier vowed to shoulder his hospital bills.
