Goodbye, Pope Francis.
The pontiff, who died at the age of 88 on April 21, has reached his final resting place at the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica in Rome.
According to the Vatican, over 250,000 people assembled at St. Peter's Square for Francis' funeral on April 26, with some devotees—including youth—waiting overnight to get a seat in front of the basilica.

Crowds from different parts of the world also flocked to catch the funeral service online together.

World leaders, including the Philippines' Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Prince William, and France's Emmanuel Macron, gathered to pay their respects to the head of the Catholic Church.

US' Donald Trump and Ukraine's Vlodymyr Zelensky, who clashed at the White House in March over a peace deal with Russia, met on the sidelines to agree to further their talks.

The ceremonies began with pallbearers bringing out the pope's simple wooden coffin to St. Peter's Square for the world to bid him farewell.

Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re presided over the funeral mass, recalling the highlights of Francis' pontificate, like how he was a pope among the people, "with an open heart towards everyone."

"Pope Francis used to conclude his speeches and meetings by saying, "Do not forget to pray for me,'" the cardinal said. "Dear Pope Francis, we now ask you to pray for us. May you bless the Church, bless Rome, and bless the whole world from heaven as you did last Sunday from the balcony of this Basilica in a final embrace with all the people of God, but also embrace humanity that seeks the truth with a sincere heart and holds high the torch of hope."
After the funeral, which ended with applause, the Pope was brought to his chosen resting place, Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome, on a hearse akin to his popemobile.

The Vatican said that at least 150,000 lined Rome's streets to see Francis one last time.

Francis is the first pope in over a century not to be entombed in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
Pope Francis died of a stroke, coma, and heart failure.
His passing comes a day after he made his first prolonged public appearance on Easter Sunday since being discharged on March 23 from a 38-day hospital stay for pneumonia.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church, was elected pope on March 13, 2013.
Instead of the Papal Apartments, Francis chose to live in the Casa Santa Martha guesthouse, where cardinals stay during a conclave.
