MMDA issues number coding suspension for the holidays
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has issued a notice on the number coding suspension on the upcoming holidays.
In its Facebook advisory, MMDA said that there will be no number coding on Tuesday, Dec. 24 (special non-working holiday) and Wednesday, Dec. 25 (regular holiday).
The number coding scheme will also be lifted on Monday, Dec. 30 (regular holiday), Tuesday, Dec. 31 (special non-working holiday), and Wednesday, Jan. 1 (regular holiday).
Meanwhile, the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) will place its operations on Blue Alert status starting Dec. 23 at 8 a.m. to Jan. 6, to ensure its preparedness to respond to holiday-related accidents and/or injuries.
Blue alert status means half of the MMDRRMC's disaster officials are on standby to respond to emergencies.
Amid the holiday traffic rush, MMDA also reminded motorists to plan their trips, adhere to traffic rules, and drive safely.
For the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival Parade of Stars on Dec. 21, the MMDA also released parade routes that motorists can avoid to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
The parade will start at 2 p.m. from Kartilya ng Katipunan to the Manila Central Post Office.
