Abby Choi's luxury apartment linked to her murder sold for P514 million—report
The high-end apartment belonging to slain model Abby Choi, which is also linked to her gruesome murder, has reportedly been sold for HK$72.8 million (P514.33 million).
According to The Straits Times, property portals Midland Realty and Hong Kong Property have listed the said apartment as "sold," but did not include or mention the exact date of the transaction.
"It was not clear when the apartment, which was originally listed for sale on the portal with an asking price of around HK$67 million (P473.24 million), was sold. The Straits Times has reached out to Midland Realty, the property portal owner, for more information," read the report.
The seven-year-old, four-room, 1820-square-feet (around 169-square-meter) Kadooria apartment is located in Kowloon Tong's Kadoorie Hill—one of the most prestigious addresses in Hong Kong.
This neighborhood houses some of the city's wealthiest for generations, including the late former chairman of the Hong Kong Olympic Academy Arnaldo de Oliveira Sales, as well as the late Hong Kong actor Leslie Cheung.
The apartment's sales contract was reportedly signed by Choi's former father-in-law, Kwong Kau, making him the property's legal owner. Local media, however, reported that Choi bought the unit in full by October 2019. She later decided to sell the apartment in recent months, which reportedly upset Kwong.
In late February, the Hong Kong model was discovered to have been killed and dismembered amid a financial dispute with her ex-husband and the latter’s family. Her partial remains have been discovered in a house set up as a butchery site, complete with an electric saw and meat grinder that had been used to mince human flesh.
After conducting a DNA test, authorities were able to determine that the skull that was found in a large soup pot and the two legs hidden in a refrigerator at the flat were indeed the remains of Choi.
Hong Kong police have arrested and detained seven suspects, including Kwong and the rest of his family.
