Lion attacks man who entered cage to film TikTok video
Numerous reports highlight individuals who have put themselves in danger to create content. Case in point, a man from Pakistani had been mauled by a lion after he entered the animal's cage to film a TikTok video.
According to the South China Morning Post, the incident happened at a private breeding facility in the eastern city of Lahore, Punjab. The man reportedly entered the lion’s cage to shoot a video before he was attacked in the face, shoulder, and arm.
Following the attack, police said that a case has now been registered against the owner of the breeding house for "putting the life of a person in danger."
Faisal Mushtaq, an inspector from the provincial wildlife department, said that while the man had been badly injured, he is now in stable condition.
The province of Punjab is known for having many private breeding houses for keeping big cats, including tigers and cheetahs, in homes and for commercial purposes. The government has since been working to amend these laws.
Express Tribune reported that lawmakers have passed a measure making it illegal to keep lions, cheetahs, tigers, pumas, and jaguars as pets.
A license will be required to maintain these big cats in breeding farms, which will be overseen by the Punjab Wildlife Department. Violators will be punished with a fine of 50,000 Indian Rupees (P33,800).
Owners of these animals have been given time to relocate them or face legal consequences.
To prevent exploitation, promoting these big cats on social media platforms such as TikTok has also been made illegal, with legal penalties for violators.
