Philippines to host Miss Tourism International 2025
The Philippines is set to host the 28th Miss Tourism International 2025 pageant, marking an exciting new chapter for the country’s rich legacy in tourism and beauty events.
The international pageant, which will be held in Davao City from Nov. 15 to 30, marks the first time the competition will be held outside of Malaysia, its home for almost three decades.
The grand coronation night will be on Saturday, Nov. 29.
"Today is [a] historic day for Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Tourism International, as you'll know, this would be the first time that the Philippines will be hosting an international pageant such as Miss Tourism International, for Mutya ng Pilipinas," Mutya ng Pilipinas president Cory Quirino said during the press conference in Makati City on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
Miss Tourism International president and owner Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi also expressed his excitement towards the global event.
"I believe there will be a lot of activities monthly to build up and bring the world to the Philippines. I guess every one of you [is] also excited to see for the first time the 28th Miss Tourism International to be held in the Philippines," he said.
"The Philippines has many places to offer. So, the world final will probably be held in Davao. But we’ll still have activities in Manila,” added the Malaysian pageant owner.
He continued, "It's gonna be exciting. We will see a lot of places so they can promote the Philippines to their countries. When we held our finals, we had 2 million people watching the show, so I think this is a good time to bring the world to the Philippines. I know the girls will be excited because, for some of them, it’s their first time."
Miss Tourism International was established in 1994, making it the longest-running tourism pageant in the world.
The 28th edition will bring together 45 to 50 candidates from all over the globe to compete for the coveted title.
The country's representative, Liana Barrido, won the Miss Tourism International crown in Malaysia last year. She is the sixth Filipina to clinch the title, following the win of Peachy Manzano (2000), the late Rizzini Alexis Gomez (2012), Angeli Dione Gomez (2013), Jannie Alipo-on (2017), and reigning The Miss Philippines-Charm Cyrille Payumo (2019).
