Filipino-American Wesley So flashed a radiant smile, pumped his fist, then locked his palms at the back of his head as he leaned back into his chair at the conclusion of his first finals match against Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the Skilling Open.

The finals ended in a 2:2 draw between the two grandmasters after So cornered Carlsen, who had an early advantage.

The final seconds of the fourth match can be seen from the clip below.

Carlsen had the opportunity to seal a win with a 2:1 edge, but fumbled in the deciding fourth game as he resigned in exasperation.

The high-strung Carlsen drew first blood in their finals, but So secured the second outing to even the field.

As can be seen from the clip below, Carlsen sighed in exasperation and even briefly fell off-frame as he snapped back in his chair and stormed off the screen after resigning.

The two will meet again tomorrow to finally settle the score and decide who will end up taking home the $30,000 (about P1.4 million) prize money.

Carlsen is the reigning world chess champion, and has been number one since July 2011.

So, meanwhile, is 10th in the 2020 FIDE world rankings. The Cavite-born So is Filipino-Chinese, but has been representing the USA since 2014.

Carlsen has been known to not take defeat lightly.

"What happens after I lose a game is that I break stuff, and then I use the next hour putting these things together again," Carlsen said in a previous interview.
