You've probably seen a photo of Boracay in every friend's feed. The beautiful island is blessed with fine white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, colourful cafes and restaurants—it deserves a spot on our accounts, right? Well, apparently the island is so popular among tourists that it landed in a United Kingdom-based travel website's list of the most Instagrammable places in the world for 2023.
The resort island in Aklan province in the Western Visayas region placed 39th among 50 international destinations compiled by Big 7 Travel.
"The Philippines cannot be left off this list," Big 7 Travel said. "The island is known for its beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters, and we absolutely love all the shot taken here – what will you find for your feed?"
The website noted that there are over 800 million hashtags about Boracay across Instagram and TikTok.
Italy's Milan, dubbed as its fashion capital, topped the list, followed by London, England; Paris, France; Istanbul, Turkey; and New York, USA.
The regional Department of Tourism said Boracay had P1.75 million local and foreign tourists in 2022, generating an income of P32.2 billion.
