People aged 15 to 65 may now leave their homes, as the COVID-19 task force eases the travel restrictions under general community quarantine. The adjustment modifies the previous range of 21 to 60 years old.

The revised regulation is contained in the Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 79 released  today, Oct. 16.

"The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Thursday, October 15, 2020, approved the adjustment of age-based stay-at-home restrictions.Persons from 15 to 65 years of age are now allowed to go out," presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in his public briefing on the same day.

Local government units (LGUs), however, are given the freedom to impose "a higher age limit for minors, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective jurisdictions," Roque adds.

Since the implementation of quarantine on March 16, the government banned high-risk individuals, such as children below 21 years old, adults above 60 years old, pregnant women, and individuals with underlying conditions from going outside their residences.

Aside from easing the age restrictions, the task force now also allows establishments and malls to run sale promotions "to spur consumer and economic activity. "
