ABS-CBN Ball 2022 postponed 'due to current circumstances'
The much-anticipated ABS-CBN Ball, formerly called the Star Magic Ball which is considered one of the local showbiz industry's most prestigious events, won't push through on Oct. 2 as planned.
"Given current circumstances, the ABS-CBN Ball scheduled on October 2 is postponed," the network said in a statement. It didn't elaborate on what those current circumstances are.
It thanked Kapamilya stars, industry partners, and friends for their "unwavering support."

Last Sept. 6, ABS-CBN through its official social media accounts asked followers to "save the date" on Oct. 2, as the ABS-CBN Ball "finally returns for a night of gratitude."
The last ABS-CBN Ball was held in 2019, months before the pandemic led to the disruption of public events and closure of establishments worldwide—as well as before the network was denied a new franchise.
ABS-CBN last made headlines when it was about to enter a landmark deal with TV5 to air Kapamilya shows on the Kapatid network. On Sept. 1, however, the networks announced that they "mutually" agreed to terminate their agreement amid misgivings from government entities.
The then-Star Magic Ball, which sees the annual gathering of Kapamilya stars, debuted in 2007.
