Popular astrologer Zenaida Seva passes away

Popular astrologer Zenaida Seva has died, according to her friend, writer Jessica Zafra.

Zafra announced Seva's death on her Instagram stories on Thursday, March 21. “I just got a text from Zenaida Seva’s phone informing me that she has died,” she wrote.

“Zenaida was my wise friend and movie buddy in the ’90s and early ’00s,” she continued. “We would watch the last full show then have a meal to discuss it. She was a true eccentric and never apologized for it.”

Though Zafra said she was “on the fence” about astrology, she noted that Seva “was always right.”

“She taught me that everything was connected,” she said.

The cause of Seva's death wasn’t specified.

Zafra said the wake and viewing of the urn will be held in Chapel C, the Mortuary Chapels, Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows in Quezon City starting March 22, Friday, at noon. It ends on March 24, Sunday, at 10:30 p.m.

In other IG story entries, Zafra spoke fondly of her friend.

“She said there are many charlatans out there,” Zafra said, “and a true astrologer only needs your exact birth details (day, time, place), pencil and paper, and an ephemeris (a book with tables of astronomical objects, positions, and trajectories) to tell you the story of your life.”

She also recalled that Seva “especially hated how total strangers would recognize her from TV and accost to ask about their future.”

“She would reply, ‘Hindi ako manghuhula,’” Zafra said.

Zafra remembered Seva reading her chart for the first time and knowing nothing of her history, but the astrologer just “knew things.”

“[S]he said, ‘You had a head injury when you were 8. Don’t worry, you won’t have another head-related issue for 40 years.’”

Zafra then noted how she had a skull fracture when she was 8, and exactly 40 years later, had water intoxication that caused brain swelling.

Seva was part of ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda, giving viewers a dose of daily astrology forecast. She also guested on the primetime show TV Patrol at the start of the year to give her forecast for the upcoming months.

Her line, “Hindi hawak ng mga bituin ang ating kapalaran. Gabay lamang sila. Meron tayong free will. Gamitin natin ito,” has been popular among several users.
