Philippines named Asia's Best Dive Destination
Divers from around the world have been drawn to the Philippines' breathtaking underwater world, and it's easy to see why. The country was awarded the title of best country for diving in the Asia Pacific region at the 2024 Travel Weekly Asia Readers' Choice Awards, solidifying its status as a must-visit destination for diving enthusiasts.
TWA held the award ceremony in October 15, during which it presented 36 awards recognizing the best hotels, resorts, serviced residences, airlines, cruise lines, destinations, and travel agencies.
Among the winners is the Philippines, awarded Best Dive Destination in Asia Pacific.
Other winners in the destination category include Japan for Best Destination (Asia Pacific), Sentosa for Best Island Destination (Asia Pacific), and Macao Government Tourism Office for Best Destination Marketing.
The award was received by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines Acting Head for ASEAN and the Pacific Division Micaela Ochoa and Deputy Head of Mission and Consul General based in the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore, Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez.
In a statement, TPB Philippines' Chief Operating Officer Marga Nograles expressed her gratitude to TWA for recognizing the “allure” of the country’s 7,641 islands.
“This accolade underscores our commitment to preserving and showcasing the exceptional natural wonders that our country is blessed with, from our wide range of diving destinations that cater to both novice and experienced divers alike, to our equally diverse shorelines and surrounding coral reefs that are home to thousands of marine species,” she said.
The Philippines was previously named the World’s Leading Dive Destination as well as Asia’s Leading Dive Destination consistently since 2019 at the World Travel Awards.
The country was also recognized as the Best Dive Destination at the Diving and Resort Travel Expo in Malaysia and Taiwan earlier this year.
