Philippines to host first-ever FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup
Not only are women making remarkable strides in futsal, but history is about to be made on Philippine soil as the country hosts the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.
From Nov. 21 to Dec.7, the country will host sixteen of the world's finest women's national futsal teams, all vying for the inaugural championship title.
This groundbreaking move underscores the Philippines' rising prominence in global sports, with a vibrant logo unveiled on March 18 in Makati City, capturing the spirit of this competition.
The logo beautifully blends Filipino culture with the essence of Futsal, incorporating iconic elements like vibrant street art, colorful Zamboanga vintage boats, the rhythmic gabbing instrument, and intricate binakol patterns. It's a creative fusion celebrating the sport and the country's rich heritage.

The logo reflects the game's dynamic nature, combining Philippine culture with futsal elements like the ball and pitch, and arrows symbolizing the game's fast-paced action
"The launch of this brand marks a major milestone, not just for this event but for the advancement of women in sport globally," said Philippine Football Federation President John Anthony Gutierrez in a statement.
He added, "It is an honor for our country to host the first-ever edition of the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup, and we are proud to welcome the world's best national teams for a tournament that will inspire girls and women to pursue a career in sport. This tournament will capture the imagination of fans in the Philippines and beyond, forging a path for future generations."
Meanwhile, Philippine Women's Futsal Team co-captain Shai del Campo told PhilSTAR L!fe that the historic event makes her excited and pressured at the same time.
"I am just very grateful that we're given an opportunity to represent the Philippines, and I hope more players, boys, and girls will be motivated to play this game," she told L!fe, adding that this hosting stint will pave the way for other Filipinos to try futsal.
"The FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup is an eye-opener to the kids, especially like yung mga coming from rural areas, na [futsal] is an opportunity for everyone," del Campo underscored.

New Zealand has already secured its spot in the prestigious event alongside the Philippines. As the week progresses, the four European teams will be determined, and the final selections will be made soon. The three South American teams will also be confirmed by the end of the month.
Once the AFC preliminary competition wraps up on May 17, three teams from Asia, two from Africa, and two from North and Central America, and the Caribbean will complete the roster of nations ready to compete at this highly anticipated tournament.
