PSA: Malacañang releases list of holidays for 2025

Published Oct 31, 2024 5:18 pm

Plan your vacations! The Malacañang Palace has announced the holidays for 2025.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. issued Proclamation No. 727, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and made public on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Under this, the Department of Labor and Employment will issue implementing guidelines for the proclamation, which is expected to take effect immediately.

Included in this year’s list of holidays is the commemoration of EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary, which was previously removed as it fell on a Sunday. This is in accordance with the “holiday economics” he reintroduced in 2023 which moved holidays closer to Saturday and Sunday to create longer weekends to “boost domestic tourism significantly,” per House Ways and Means Committee chair Joey Salceda.

The list didn’t include Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha yet as it will be proclaimed once the Islamic calendar has been finalized. The actual dates will be recommended by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) stated.
