Calling aspiring authors: The National Book Development Board is accepting applications for its publication grant
Got a manuscript you want to publish? The National Book Development Board is now accepting applications for its 2025 publication grant.
The NBDB announced its grant program on Facebook on Jan. 16. Deserving manuscripts may receive an endowment for as much as P200,000.
Applications will be open for publishers, enterprises, institutions, authors, and editors intending to publish a Filipino book. However, they must be registered with the NBDB to be eligible for the grant.
Those who aren't NBDB-registered may sign up by filling out an application form available via the NBDB website.
Filipinos engaged in book publishing activities such as authors, editors, educational technologists, graphic designers, layout artists, illustrators, instructional designers, librarians, literature educators, and enterprises may register with the NBDB.
Filipino authors who aren't based in the Philippines may also register and join the program.
To apply for the grant, you'll need a duly accomplished application proposal which includes information about the book, an NBDB registration certificate number, and the complete, original, and unpublished manuscript you plan to publish.
Aspiring authors have until Feb. 13 to submit their applications.
Selected grant recipients will receive the following amount based on their page counts:
- 32 to 75 pages - P75,000
- 76 to 150 pages - P100,000
- 151 to 300 pages - P150,000
- 301 pages and above - P200,000
Results will come out in about two months and two weeks from Jan. 16.
